Saying Goodbye

It's December, and I can't believe we're finally at the close of 2025. This year has been a constant roller coaster of mixed emotions for many of us. For me, it's proving to be consistent to the end.
When we moved to Oregon last November, one of the things I needed to let go of was the Coffee House Tours. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a group of Las Vegas area authors who partner with coffee houses to engage in book signings. Or at least that's how it started nearly ten years ago. Fellow author Linda Stiles Fox and I, wanted to create a connection with the city. Bring awareness to all the readers in our community about the wonderful authors in their own hometown. And also, promoting the mindset of authors helping authors, and our community.
What started as two very determined women beating the pavement to various coffee houses around town, eventually grew to nearly fifty authors pre-covid. Unfortunately, like many other groups and businesses, covid paralyzed us. When we were able to finally see positive motion again, the plans for my move to Oregon had taken root.
It was difficult for me to accept that once we moved, I could no longer run the tour. Scouting new coffee house partnerships meant in-person meetings and being able to navigate the city for new prospects. I had to make the decision to let go and leave the Coffee House Tours with a few of the Las Vegas authors who stepped up to the challenge.
Recently, they made the decision to close the tour. They're moving in a new direction and creating a group that will be based on information. They will no longer arrange book signings and engage with events in coffee shops. Their new directive will be geared primarily towards author enlightenment. Many of which whom have a plethora of questions in the beginning of their careers. Questions we all once had, and would actively look to more experienced authors for answers.
This is change.
There comes a time when we need to let go and accept and welcome the next generation of ideas. I've given my support to them, and thank them for trying to keep up the dream that Linda and I shared, planned, and gave birth to. It was a great ride, and I wouldn't change anything. I've met the most interesting and unique people, all the while getting to grow as an author and a person. It was an experience I'll treasure always.
To all the authors that have signed on to the tour over the years, you made CHT work. You are the breath that created life from an idea. You will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish you all a thriving career, laughter, love, and a life well lived.
A few signings over the years...
